Union Bordeaux-Begles coach Christophe Urios has extended his stay at the French club for two years, meaning he is now contracted for three more seasons after the current one.
The news was not unexpected but was well-received by the UBB public, along with the further contract extension of long-time servant of the club, hooker Clement Maynadier, who has signed for one more season.
Urios’ signing was first revealed by the man himself on Twitter, but club President Laurent Marti was more expansive in his own social media post.
“I am pleased to announce the extension of our manager Christophe Urios until June 30, 2025,” he wrote.
“Christophe is an essential man in our club project. We have very ambitious goals. To achieve them the UBB Institution must surround itself with the best elements.”
Urios has taken UBB to two Top 14 semi-finals since arriving, including one where the team finished top of the regular season table. He has already won the Top 14 once as a coach, with Castres in 2018.
