Nando’s will be opening its doors and firing up the grills at its brand-new Brighton restaurant.

The new site in London Road is the fourth Nando’s in the city and will open on Monday, June 12.

A short walk from the railway station, the restaurant seats 115 people and fans of the South African chain will also be able to order delivery and collect options to enjoy at home.

From artwork to lighting design and furnishings, Nando’s has championed its Southern African heritage by working with South African based designers across all aspects of its restaurants.

At the London Road restaurant the decor has also been inspired by Brighton’s West Pier.

A spokesman said: “Take a seat and it will feel like you’re right underneath it, without the seagulls trying to steal your fully loaded chips.”

The restaurant has created 30 jobs for people in the community, including a few internal transfers.

Working with local charities, The Crew Club youth centre in Whitehawk and The Spear Programme part of Resurgo, both members of Nando’s ‘No Chuckin’ Our Chicken’ food donation initiative, nearly half the team have been recruited through employability programmes, Nando’s said.

The restaurant has also been recognised as a disability confident committed employer which is a government backed scheme focusing on how employers can be more inclusive.

Restaurant manager Matthew Larham spoke of his excitement at the opening.

“We’re looking forward to opening the doors and can’t wait to bring Nando’s famous flame-grilled PERi-PERi flavours to another corner of Brighton,” he said.

“It’s been amazing working with The Crew Club and Spear and being able to build our team and support the local community is a double winner. We’ve got lots more planned in the coming weeks and months, pop in to find out more.”

Nando’s London Road will be open from 11:30am-10pm seven days a week.

Nando’s also has sites in Duke Street in Brighton, Brighton Marina and the Goldstone Retail Park in Hove.

The opening comes shortly after the company opened its first site in Worthing in March.
