Clinton Nsiala signs Rangers pre-contract transfer as AC Milan defender fan of Ibrox project

Rangers have sealed a pre-contract move for AC Milan defender Clinton Nsiala.

The centre-half, 20, fits the bill as the left-sided defender the club have been seeking this summer as we at Football Scotland exclusively revealed. The Frenchman has been a stalwart with Milan's youth team over the years and he's been tracked by clubs around Europe. But now it's been confirmed that the Ibrox outfit - who scouted Nsiala substantially - have moved to land the promising player on a free transfer.

The youngster's contract in Italy expired this summer and Nils Koppen identified him as a strong candidate to be signed as part of the new philosophy of buy low and sell higher down the line.

Nsiala had other options with a number of clubs keeping a close eye on his circumstances but the opportunity to play first-team football and compete for trophies is believed to be a strong pull.

The chance to play in the Champions League down the line and in the Europa League is also reported to be one reason the player is interested in an Ibrox switch over other alternatives.

Koppen said of the move: "We are excited to add a talented young player in Clinton to the squad.

“He joins as an exciting talent who we believe can develop and take his next steps under our manager, Philippe Clement, and his staff.

“We look forward to welcoming Clinton to Glasgow as we continue to shape the squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.”
