Clubs clamouring to sign quality Man Utd star as loan decision made ahead of January deadline
Manchester United are ready to send defender Brandon Williams out on loan before next week’s transfer deadline amid interest from a host of clubs at home and abroad, TEAMtalk understands.
Williams, 22, has found himself down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag this season, having made just one appearance for United in the last 18 months.
The left-back, who burst onto the scene under former United boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer, is third choice left-back at Old Trafford behind Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Williams spent last season on loan at Norwich City, but he returned to Old Trafford in the summer following their relegation from the Premier League.
United are now open to sending Williams out on loan again so that he can have valuable first-team action. And the news has alerted a plethora of clubs.
Williams has interest from several Premier League and Championship clubs, while a number of clubs in France, Germany and Italy are also keen on snapping up the full-back on loan.
The England Under-21 international is open to going out on loan for the second half of the season as he looks to try and impress ten Hag that he should have a long-term future at Old Trafford.
Williams struggled with injury at the start of the season preventing him from making a push for a spot in the United. But he is now back to full fitness and United feel he would be best served by going out on loan to get some valuable minutes under his belt.
Williams looking to get United career back on track
Any club that lands the full-back will be getting a consistent performer who actually made 36 appearances for United during the 2019-20 campaign.
The fact that Ten Hag is only willing to let the player leave on a temporary basis clearly means he could still have a future at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are back in action on Wednesday evening when they head to Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
