Co Tyrone runner Nick Griggs sets all-time record for fastest Parkrun
Co Tryone running sensation Nick Griggs has set the all-time record for fastest Parkrun time.
The 19-year-old from Newmills set the men's record on Saturday, November 9, at the event in East Belfast's Victoria Park - a course that is notoriously quick.
He ran the 5K in an astonishing time of 13:44, beating the previous fastest time of 13:45 set by Andy Butchart at Edinburgh’s Parkrun last June.

In October 2022, Griggs ran the fastest-ever parkrun recorded in Ireland. Aged 17 years-old, he ran a five kilometre course at Victoria Park, Belfast in 14:15.
Griggs' new record run means the men's and women's all-time Parkrun records are held by two athletes from Northern Ireland.
Last December, Portaferry runner Ciara Mageean set the women's Parkrun record on the same course, running the distance in a time of of 15:13.
Parkrun is a free weekly 5K running event at locations across the UK which celebrated its 20th anniversary last month. In Northern Ireland, there are 39 weekly events, with the first event here taking place in the Waterworks park in North Belfast in 2010.
