Cody Gakpo was left furious at Diogo Jota over the striker's "selfish" piece of play during the first-half of Liverpool's Champions League clash with AC Milan.

The Dutchman had been introduced to the starting lineup for tonight's game at the San Siro, replacing Luis Diaz on the left-wing, but endured a frustrating first 45 minutes that saw him lose his temper with Jota shortly before half-time.

Not long after Liverpool had equalized through Ibrahima Konate's impressive header, the Reds were through again as Kostas Tsimikas burst into the opposition box as Liverpool searched for a second goal of the night.

The Greek left-back, who had replaced Andy Robertson in the starting lineup, laid the ball off to Jota inside the 18-yard box, yet the Portuguese fluffed his lines and put the ball the wrong side of the near post and out for a goalkick.

Meanwhile, Gakpo had been screaming for the ball in the center of the box and was left fuming at his teammate once he opted to shoot instead - and missed the target completely. Gakpo held his arms out in disbelief and was looked towards Jota for answers.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock described it as "greedy" play from Jota, and that it wasn't good enough from the former Wolves man. "He has to square," he said. "Gakpo is furious."

Liverpool headed into the break with a 2-1 lead after goals from Konate and Virgil van Dijk helped the visitors come from behind, having seen Christian Pulisic put the hosts ahead after just three minutes at the San Siro.
