Colchester United learn their opponents in EFL Trophy Round of 16
COLCHESTER United will visit Cheltenham Town in the Round of 16 of the Vertu Trophy.
The U's will take on their League Two rivals next month, following this lunchtime's draw.
Colchester booked their place in the last 16 of the competition with a 2-0 home win over AFC Wimbledon, this week.
Danny Cowley’s side progressed from Southern Group E as group winners, following wins over Arsenal under-21s and MK Dons and a draw at Leyton Orient, of League One.
In the Round of 16, clubs remain regionalised.
Colchester have already earned £65,000 from this season’s competition.
The draw was made live on Sky Sports Football in the build-up to the Sky Bet EFL Championship match between Preston North End and Leeds United.
Sky Sports’ former Colchester United midfielder David Prutton hosted the draw alongside former Northern Ireland international, Stuart Dallas and current Portsmouth forward, Colby Bishop.
Ties are set to be played in the week commencing, January 13.
