Coleen Rooney revealed during her recent appearance on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here that she finds it more 'nerve-racking' watching husband Wayne manage than play football.

Coleen recently starred on the latest series of the hit ITV hit show and on Sunday night was crowned runner-up. Danny Jones of McFly claimed the title of King of the Jungle after reaching the final with Coleen and Rev Richard Coles.

Although both her mum, dad and two of her children were there to greet her as she left the jungle, Wayne remained in the UK due to his commitments as Plymouth Argyle manager. He joined the Championship side in the summer but has endured a frustrating start to life in the second-tier and a report recently claimed that he was fighting to keep his job.

And opening up about life as the wife of a football manager, Coleen, who has been married to the former Everton and Manchester United striker since 2008, revealed why it is more difficult watching hubby manage than play.

Kicking off the conversation, Danny Jones asked: “Can you tell Wayne to go and manage Bolton for me? Do a good job there. Is he loving managing?”

To which Rooney replied: “Yeah, he does enjoy it, but it is hard work, like. I find it more nerve-racking him being a manager than I did…I feel more pressure than I ever, ever did [watching him] playing.

“I feel like when you are playing, you are part of this team, whereas I feel like a manager, and I know you have a team of coaches at stuff, but it just seems to all be on one.”

Rooney is one of the most decorated players in the history of English football. He won five Premier League titles, three League Cups, one Champions League and one FA Cup during his playing career.

However, he has found life as a manager much more tough going. After spells with Derby County and DC United, he took over Birmingham City in October 2023.

But he was sacked in January 2024 after winning just two of the 15 matches he oversaw. He then joined Plymouth in the summer but has won just four of the 18 league games his side have played and is believed to be fighting to keep his job heading into the festive period.
