Quenton Nelson, James White carted off in injury-filled NFL Sunday

Sunday's NFL games saw a rash of early injuries with a pair of players carted off the field.

Indianapolis Colts All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson left his team's game against the Tennessee Titans on a cart with a right ankle injury in the first half. The Colts initially listed him as questionable to return. Nelson had offseason surgery on his right foot and missed most of training camp.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport later reported Nelson is believed to have suffered a high ankle sprain, and X-rays were negative:

Any missed time by Nelson is a significant blow to the Colts and quarterback Carson Wentz, who is playing this week after suffering two sprained ankles in a Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

New England Patriots running back James White also left his team's game against the New Orleans Saints on a cart with a hip injury. The Patriots immediately ruled him out for the rest of the game.

Several other notable players also left games with injuries in the NFL's early window.

Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown left his team's game against the Colts with a hamstring injury and was initially listed as questionable to return. Chicago Bears All-Pro linebacker Khalil Mack suffered a foot injury against the Cincinnati Bengals and was listed as questionable.

The Colts lost first-round rookie defensive end Kwity Paye to a hamstring injury. He was ruled out for the rest of the game. New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard also suffered a hamstring injury and was ruled out of his team's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Los Angeles Chargers All-Pro safety Derwin James suffered a shoulder injury against the Kansas City Chiefs and was initially listed as questionable to return.
