Colts briefly close facility in case of several false-positive COVID-19 tests

On Friday, the Indianapolis Colts were the team affected by COVID-19 tests.

It seems that each day the past few weeks, we’ve woken up to news of a different team having positive tests. On Friday, it was the Colts.

Colts close facility for a few hours

The team put out a statement that the facility was immediately closed and the team would work remotely on Friday.

The team updated the news within hours and said it was a case of false positives.

The Colts said in a statement that four had tested positive in the results that came back Friday morning. They were re-tested and confirmed negative.

“After consultation with the NFL and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Allen Sills, the team will open the practice facility this afternoon under the league’s intensive protocol and will continue preparation for Sunday’s game against Cincinnati.”

Indianapolis will host the Cincinnati Bengals at 1 p.m. on Sunday. There were initial concern the game would have to be postponed due to the positive tests and concerns of an outbreak days away from the contest. The Colts have a bye scheduled next week.

The NFL has had to reschedule and postpone several games but none have been canceled yet. There were positive tests on the Atlanta Falcons this week, though as of Friday morning their game against the Minnesota Vikings was still scheduled for Sunday. On Friday, the league had to work with the Colts to figure out the next steps.
