Coming 2 America, the sequel to the 1988 Eddie Murphy classic Coming To America, will be following Borat 2 to Amazon Prime.

According to Variety, the movie has been sold to the streaming studio by Paramount Pictures in a deal worth $125 million.

This means the movie will swerve cinemas altogether and is plotted to premiere on Amazon on 18 December, with final details of the sale being 'hammered out', says the report, including Murphy's blessing.

The movie, helmed by Dolemite director Craig Brewer, has brought together many of the cast of the original movie.

Murphy will reprise his role as Prince Akeem, who is set to take up the role of King of Zamunda from his father Jaffe, played by James Earl Jones.

However, he soon discovers he has a son he never knew he had in America - Lavelle, played by Superior Donuts star Jermaine Fowler.

Jaffe's dying wish is that Akeem groom his newly discovered heir for the role of crown prince, so he and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) return to the US to find him.

Shari Headley reprises her role as Lisa McDowell, who Akeem meets and falls in love with in the first movie, with John Amos back to play her father Cleo.

Also on the bill are 30 Rock's Tracy Morgan, Wesley Snipes, Rick Ross and Leslie Jones, playing Lavelle's mother.
