British actress Tanya Fear has been found safe in LA

The 31-year-old British actress, Tanya Fear, has been found in Los Angeles after being reported missing.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department told the BBC that the 31-year-old was safe but would not provide further details.

On social media, the actress' family said they are "relieved and extremely grateful".

A missing persons report had previously been filed for Fear, who has appeared in Doctor Who as well as multiple other TV shows and the film Kick-Ass 2.

The actress's manager, Alex Cole, told ABC News that Tanya was fine when he last saw her before her disappearance.

"Since she's been here, she's had a great career and this is just the beginning," he said.

"We're obviously concerned and [hope] we find out this is a simple mistake and we find her."

Cole said Fear had recently been performing stand-up comedy and had been in the LA area for two months.

The formerly London-based actress has also appeared in TV's Endeavour, DCI Banks and Midsomer Murders.

Tanya's family and friends were urging people to use the hashtag #FindTanyaFear on social media to help gather information about the 31-year-old's whereabouts.

According to the @FindTanyaFear Twitter account, which is described as being run by her family, the actress was last seen before her disappearance at Trader Joe's grocery store on Santa Monica Boulevard.

Following the news that Tanya had been found, her family said on social media: "We understand she is not physically harmed, but as a precaution, is being processed at a local hospital.

"We wish to thank the Police, members of the public, for their efforts in locating Tanya, as well as the outpouring of concern and support over the last several days."
