Confederations Cup - Diamanti avoids fracture

Alessandro Diamanti is breathing a sigh of relief, as tests showed he has avoided a fracture in his wrist.

The Bologna forward fell awkwardly and Enis Nadarevic accidentally trod on his arm during the 0-0 draw with Genoa.

Diamanti was stretchered off in pain and taken straight to hospital for X-Rays amid fears a fracture would rule him out of the Confederations Cup.

This evening Bologna announced there is a sprain and bruising to the right wrist, “but tests ruled out fractures.”

He was named in the provisional group of players for a get-together, though Italy coach Cesare Prandelli will then whittle that down for the tournament itself.
