Confirmed Celtic vs Rangers team news as five stars handed Old Firm debuts

It is derby day in Glasgow as Celtic and Rangers get ready to go at each other for the first time this season.

Unfortunately, it will be played in front of home fans only after the initial agreement to have a travelling support admitted to the games was scrapped and put on ice until later in the season. The Hoops would have been red hot favourites anyway and will hope a vociferous support can help them extinguish any fire that is in Gers' bellies.

Both sides have been busy in the transfer market with the Hoops smashing their transfer record on Arne Engels on deadline day as well as signing defender Auston Trusty and midfielder Luke McCowan. Rangers brought in Feyenoord defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo and midfielder Nedim Bajrami, with the latter unable to registered in time for this clash.

As it turns out, there are X derby debutants across the two teams which are as follows:

Celtic starting XI: Schmeichel, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor, McGregor, Bernardo, Hatate, Kuhn, Maeda, Kyogo

Subs: Sinisalo, Trusty, Palma, Idah, Valle, McCowan, Engels, Forrest, Ralston

Rangers starting XI: Butland, Tavernier, Propper, Souttar, Jefte, Sterling, Barron, Diomande, Matondo, Cerny, Dessers

Subs: Kelly, Lawrence, Kasanwirjo, Balogun, Igamane, Raskin, McCausland, Fraser, Danilo
