Conor Bradley has lauded the arrival of Arne Slot as ‘refreshing’ after the Dutchman took the reins at Liverpool following Jurgen Klopp’s exit.

Despite having yet to start a game this season, Bradley appears to be a huge fan of his new boss as Slot’s tenure at Anfield has begun positively. The 21-year-old burst onto the scene last season under Jurgen Klopp but has praised the new tactics and outlook from Slot.

The Northern Irishman has featured in four of the five Premier League games this season but is yet to make a start with Trent Alexander-Arnold continuing to hold down his role on the right-hand side of the defence.

But Bradley doesn’t appear too frustrated by his limited action when he was asked in an interview with Liverpool’s club media whether it’s been refreshing to have a different voice and perspective from his new boss. “Yeah, it is really refreshing, hearing a new voice and new tactics and yeah, he does ask a lot of the full-backs,” he said.

“Obviously at different times he wants us high and inside, or high and wide, or else dropping down into a four to help with build-up,” Bradley added about the demands Slot has instilled in his full-backs.

“So, he does ask a lot but it’s just going to be about learning [and] making sure we do what he wants us to do. I’ve really enjoyed it, it’s been really good just to learn the different ways he wants us to play and it’s definitely making me a better player.”

Bradley forced his way into the first-team under Jurgen Klopp

Bradley made his Liverpool debut under Klopp in the Carabao Cup in 2021 before embarking on a series of loan spells to find regular senior minutes. His big moment came last season when he deputized for the injured Alexander-Arnold, playing 23 games in all competitions and winning the Carabao Cup under the German.

Keen to make sure the young full-back remains part of the first-team plans at Anfield, Slot has introduced Bradley as a second-half substitute in Liverpool’s opening four Premier League games this season and looks likely to award him a first start of the campaign in the Carabao Cup against West Ham United tonight.

Bradley continued to laud Slot’s coaching, adding: “It’s been really good. I think they’ve improved me a lot, obviously we do lots of individual meetings and things like that so it’s been really good. I’ve really enjoyed it and it’s been a good start to the season but there is still loads to improve on for, I think, the whole team. So, we’ve just got to keep going and keep improving.”

Touching on the areas he has worked on under the Dutchman, Bradley continued: “Loads of different things. Obviously the runs I make into the final third from right-back, things like my defending and stuff like that as well, so just every part of my game [and] trying to make me overall a better player. So, I’ve really enjoyed working under him and it’s been a really good start.”
