Conor Gallagher has penned an emotional farewell message to Crystal Palace, paying tribute to the club’s fans, players and manager Patrick Vieira.

Gallagher has enjoyed a superb campaign on loan from Chelsea at Selhurst Park, one which has seen him break into Gareth Southgate’s England side and be voted the club’s Supporters’ Player of the Year.

The 22-year-old has been a central part of a new-look, vibrant young team who have excelled in Vieira’s first season in charge, finishing 12th in the Premier League and reaching the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

“I’m so proud to have been part of this team in which was a very successful season in the league and getting to Wembley for the FA cup semi final was amazing,” Gallagher wrote on Instagram.

“From my first contact with Patrick he’s been brilliant with me and helped me develop into a better player, for which I can’t thank him enough. The players and staff have made me feel like I’ve been here for years and the fans have made me feel so at home. Your support helped us in tough games this season and it can make all the difference!”

Palace chairman Steve Parish has been open about his desire to bring the midfielder back to south London next season, but Thomas Tuchel has indicated that he wants him involved in his Chelsea squad for pre-season, with a decision over his future set to be made over the summer.

Gallagher added: “I’ve given everything this season for the club and was delighted to be the supporters player of the year, thank you all so much for your support.

“It’s been so special to play for this great club. Hopefully I showed that in my performances on the pitch and how proud I was to wear the shirt. Thank you.”
