Conor McGregor: ‘I am BACK on UFC 200!'

Conor McGregor, in the early morning hours on Monday, returned to Twitter to announce that he is back on the UFC 200 fight card. He gave a shout out to UFC president Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta for “getting this one done for the fans.”

The only problem?

Someone appears to have forgotten to tell White and Fertitta that they acquiesced.

At the time of publication, there had been no official response from the UFC, and none of MMAWeekly.com's sources close to the situation knew of any change in the McGregor's status in regard to UFC 200.

In all likelihood, it is another power play by McGregor to try and force the UFC's hand.

When he announced last week via Twitter that he had “decided to retire young,” the tweet reached record numbers of re-tweets. It exploded across the internet. But the UFC wasn't willing to do business based on Twitter. He eventually retracted the statement about retirement.

It later came to light that McGregor's tweet followed a disagreement he had with the UFC over the time needed for him to step away from training in order to travel to Las Vegas, Stockton, and New York to attend press conferences, do interviews, and film a commercial for UFC 200.

When he refused, the UFC pulled him from his scheduled rematch with Nate Diaz, unwilling to set a precedent for other fighters to also refuse promotional obligations.

White has insisted that he has no hard feelings toward McGregor and that the UFC wants to continue to work through the matter with McGregor, but on Friday, he closed the door on McGregor returning to the UFC 200 fight card. Despite McGregor's tweet to the contrary, it appears that White is sticking to his guns.

Although nothing is set in stone, if all parties check out healthy, the UFC is entertaining the idea of adding a rematch between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier to the UFC 200 fight card.
