Conor McGregor Makes History, Dominates Eddie Alvarez (UFC 205 Results)
Featherweight champion Conor McGregor entered the Octagon inside New York City's Madison Square Garden on Saturday trying to make history by becoming the fight fighter in UFC history to hold two belts at the same time when he faced lightweight titleholder Eddie Alvarez.
McGregor strutted his way into the cage to the sound of cheering fans. When he exited it, he had two world title belts.
McGregor landed his left hand at will, dropping Alvarez three times in the opening round. After the third knockdown, McGregor following Alvarez to the canvas and delivered heavy shots from the top position. Alvarez was somehow able to survive the round, but as McGregor said during the pre-fight press conference, it was the McGregor show.
Alvarez desperately looked to get the fight to the ground in the second frame but was unsuccessful. At one point, McGregor put his hands behind his back and taunted the American. He knocked Alvarez down for a fourth time, but Alvarez got back to his feet. The end was soon to follow. McGregor delivered a combination that sent Alvarez crashing to the canvas. Referee John McCarthey had seen enough and stepped in before Alvarez could take any more damage.

Following the fight, McGregor exchanged words with UFC president Dana White. He wanted to know where his second belt was. After having his hand raised after the official result was read, McGregor was agitated that he didn't have two belts to display.
“Where the (expletive) is my second belt? I already got this one. Where’s the second one at? Cheap (expletive). $4.2 billion this company was sold for. Where’s that second belt,” he asked. “I just won they’re already trying to take that one off me.
“They should’ve had them two belts ready, special for me. It’s never been done before.”
Questioned if anything surprised him about the fight, McGregor answered, “Not one bit. They’re not on my level. You gotta have size, reach, length. You gotta have some attributes. If you come in anyway equal to me, I’m gonna rip your head off,” he said. “Eddie’s a solid competitor. Eddie’s a warrior, but he shouldn’t have been in here with me.”
McGregor said he would toy with Alvarez, and he did. He said he'd be the first to hold two titles at the same time, and he did. The brash Irishman was unapologetic for his in-your-face style of promotion and fighting.
“I’ve spent a lot of time slaying everybody in the company. Backstage, I’m starting fights off everybody. I ridiculed everyone on the roster. I just want to say, from the bottom of me heart, I’d like to take this chance to apologize… to absolutely nobody!”
