The fight will not be for a title and will be held at welterweight – where McGregor has only fought twice before (both against Nate Diaz).

“Conor has signed and Cowboy is ready to go,” White told ESPN.

McGregor has not fought since he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018 at UFC 229.

And McGregor will be searching for his first win since November 2016 when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez.

Cerrone, who holds the UFC record for most wins (36), is said to have signed a new, exclusive deal with the UFC as part of the deal for this fight.
