Conor McGregor’s Trash Talk Doesn’t Stop at the Octagon Door

Newly crowned UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor is known for his relentless trash talk and self-promotion as much as he is for his fighting ability. It turns out that the Irishman’s verbal assaults aren’t limited to interviews, press conferences, and media calls. “The Notorious” talks to his opponents during fights.

His UFC 189 adversary, Chad Mendes, revealed that McGregor was trash talking all the way through their title fight on Saturday.

“You’ve got to give it to him; the guy didn’t stop talking (expletive) the entire time,” said Mendes during the event’s post-fight press conference. “I was hitting him with everything that I had, and the guy was running his mouth. That’s Conor I guess.”

McGregor confirmed during the UFC 189 Post Show that he was indeed talking trash to Mendes during their main event bout.

“I was eating him alive from bottom and I was talking to him,” said 26-year-old Dubliner.

He doesn’t just taunt his opponents when he’s winning a fight, McGregor even talks smack while in a bad position.

“I’d land a giant elbow on his face and he’d say, ‘Is that all you’ve got?'” recalled Mendes.
