Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte looks to be friends with Thomas Tuchel again as the Italian has poked fun at the Chelsea boss via social media.

Spurs and Chelsea have had their fair share of tense clashes down the years and Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge was right up there with the best of them.

Chelsea were at their free-flowing best in the first half and Kalidou Koulibaly’s sublime volley fired them ahead going into the break.

16 Conclusions: Tuchel and Chelsea 2-2 Conte and Tottenham

Tottenham were more in the game in the second half. The first clash between Conte and Tuchel came after the away side’s equaliser.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg netted from the edge of the area. Tuchel felt Kai Havertz was fouled in the build-up, though this incident was around 40 seconds before the midfielder’s finish.

The rival dugouts exchanged verbals after Conte celebrated and Tuchel approached the fourth official to contest the goal. This led to both managers being shown a yellow card.

The end of the game was enthralling. Reece James fired Chelsea back ahead, to which Tuchel channelled his inner Jose Mourinho to sprint down the touchline to celebrate.

Chelsea were the better side overall but they were made to settle for a point in the end as Harry Kane equalised deep into stoppage time.

A la Carl Froch and George Groves (Google it), neither Conte nor Tuchel let go when shaking hands post-match and this inevitably led to a second major fracas. Both bosses were subsequently sent off.

Tuchel made light of the situation when speaking after the 2-2 stalemate, saying the issues between the benches “was nothing bad”:

“I don’t have any problem, and I’m sure he will not have either,” said Tuchel.

“We both fought for our teams, and it happens.

“It’s so close here, such an intense match. Both dugouts are very, very close.

When asked if he enjoyed the clash overall, Tuchel added: “Yes, and I think he enjoyed it as well. It was nothing bad.

“It’s Premier League football and the two managers got involved today, because both of us were fighting for our teams.

“Nobody got insulted, nobody got hurt; there was no fist fight or anything.

“It boils up but nothing bad. Today it was part of the game.”

Conte was also in a jovial mood on Sunday evening. He has posted a clip (via Instagram) of Tuchel celebrating Chelsea’s second goal with the caption:

“Lucky I didn’t see you… making you trip over would have been well deserved.”
