Coronation Street airs another Michelle mention in Ryan's story

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has aired another mention of Michelle Connor in Ryan's story.

In Wednesday's (May 17) episode, Ryan was completely occupied by his growing relationship with Ibiza DJ Crystal — though all was not as it seemed.

Daisy Midgeley has been pretending to be Crystal in order to make Ryan feel better in the wake of the acid attack, though she's started to regret her actions since Ryan is so invested in a relationship with the DJ.

Carla visited Ryan at the hospital and heard all about his feelings for Crystal, then later shared with Daisy how keen he is on this potential love interest. Daisy continued to feel bad about her mounting lies.

However, Carla also had another update — she revealed to Ryan during his visit that she'd recently spoken to Michelle about his bout of sepsis.

"I promised your mum I wouldn't let you out of my sight from here on out," Carla vowed.

This is only the most recent reference Coronation Street has made to explain why actress Kym Marsh hasn't reprised her role as Michelle for Ryan's big storyline.

It was previously mentioned shortly after the acid attack storyline began that Michelle was unable to travel to the UK for the foreseeable future because she's had an operation.

Kym previously told Loose Women that a return to Coronation Street isn't on the cards any time soon because she's too busy with other projects — including Waterloo Road and more of BBC One's Morning Live.

"I do love the show so much," she said. "It gave me my start and I will always love it from the bottom of my heart, but at the moment I've been so lucky that I'm working and busy, and I've got too much to do yet, before Michelle."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
