Coronation Street sets up major change in Damon's stories

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street villain Damon Hay realises that he may have divided loyalties in Wednesday's episode (March 22) after another secret heart-to-heart with Sarah Barlow.

Damon has been causing problems for Sarah's brother Nick Tilsley in recent months by worming his way in at the Bistro and using the business as part of his drug dealing empire.

The bad boy also holds a grudge against Nick for setting him up to be arrested a few weeks ago.

Despite this, Damon now feels a connection to Sarah after their cosy chat at a hotel bar this week, which almost led to Sarah cheating on her husband Adam.

In Wednesday's episode, Sarah secretly meets up with Damon in an alleyway and tries to appeal to his better nature.

Hoping that she now has some influence over her brother's nemesis, Sarah begs Damon to stay away from Nick and also drop Adam as his solicitor.

Although tempted to comply, Damon refuses to make any promises.

Later, Damon seeks an update on his case from Dee-Dee Bailey at the solicitor's office.

Dee-Dee warns that Damon's chances of escaping a jail sentence aren't looking good, as whoever stitched him up knew exactly what they were doing.

Damon is furious and corners Nick in the Bistro office for the second time this week.

As Damon closes the door behind him, will he turn violent or respect Sarah's wishes by making peace?

Whatever happens, Corrie bosses have previously promised that viewers will soon see a whole new side to Damon's personality.

Speaking on ITV1's Loose Women last month, Corrie producer Iain MacLeod commented: "We've brought [Damon] in to put the cat among the pigeons – and he's certainly done that, I think you'd agree.

"But what we're doing over the next few months is seeing that he's got a different side to him. He has got – I wouldn't say a soft centre, but he's got a heart.

"He will try – after making a really, really big mistake – to try and turn his life around and go straight for a while.

"There will be a love interest that will be part of his decision to try and turn his life around."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
