Coronation Street tipped to air shock drowning in Stephen storyline

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's current serial killer Stephen Reid looks like he's going to complete a hat-trick next week, and claim another victim's life.

Rumours reported in The Mirror claim that Stephen will drown his next victim in episodes set to air in coming days, in what is said to be a big-budget stunt.

The name of the victim hasn't been revealed yet, but recently Stephen has been spiking Carla's tea with LSD to oust her as boss of the factory. He's managed to do that, so it's unlikely that he feels the need to kill her. Plus, we all want/need Carla to give Stephen his comeuppance.

Businessman Rufus has cottoned on to what Stephen has been doing to Carla and has been blackmailing him, and also cost the factory a lucrative deal with a big American company. It seems likely that Rufus will meet his maker next, or Michael after he catches Stephen out in a lie, but maybe that's too obvious and he'll end up killing Eileen.

Stephen actor Todd Boyce has confirmed that Stephen would be killing again in a recent interview, and could go even further, stating: "I think there could be more. He has a taste for it now and I think he figures that if he gets caught for three, he might as well get caught for four or five.

"It would be great to go down in the record books as the show's biggest serial killer. What a thing to be known for."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
