Coronavirus UK LIVE: Nation joins together for Clap for Carers to salute NHS as landmarks lit up in blue

The nation has come together for a second time to applaud the NHS workers on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic.

People across the UK stood in their doorways, on balconies and at windows to clap for the key workers fighting Covid-19.

It comes as Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced the UK is looking to carry out 100,000 coronavirus tests per day by the end of April.

Mr Hancock made the announcement as he laid out his “five pillar” plan on testing on Thursday, as the UK saw it's largest daily jump in the number of coronavirus deaths.
