Manager Steve Cotterill has revealed that securing Nottingham Forest's Championship status would "mean everything" to him.

The Reds are within touching distance of guaranteeing their survival and could have it confirmed on Tuesday night against league leaders Reading.

"It (keeping Forest up) would mean everything because that is what we have been striving for since I came through the door," said Cotterill, who replaced former England manager Steve McClaren in mid-October.

"At one stage, it was looking bleak for us. It was looking bleak when I first came in and also when we had no defenders. But we have managed to come through that and hopefully we can now finish the job properly.

"We have kept four clean sheets in five games. If we can keep another clean sheet, you never know what we can get. At the moment the league table suggests Reading are the best team in the Championship, so it will be a tough game. But if we play well, as we have done of late, who knows?"

Cotterill's side travel to the Madejski Stadium seven points clear of the relegation zone with three matches remaining. A win over the Royals would make them safe, while a defeat would also be enough if Coventry lose at home to Millwall.
