Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott sets record in NFL merchandise sales

Elliott is the first rookie to ever lead the league in total merchandise sales.

Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott have proven to be the most popular duo in the NFL.

The NFLPA on Wednesday announced the top-50 player sales for the 2016-17 season, with the Cowboys running back and quarterback finishing first and second, respectively, among NFL players in merchandise sales.

Elliott, who is the first rookie to ever lead the league in total merchandise sales, beat out Patriots quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady as well as teammate Dez Bryant to top the list.

"It’s pretty humbling,” Elliott said in a statement. “When you’re a rookie, you’re just looking to put your head down, help the team, and learn the ropes. To accomplish this level of success off the field shows just how passionate football fans are in Dallas, Ohio, my home state of Missouri, and all around the world. And to be up there with Dak and Dez, alongside great players like Tom Brady and Odell Beckham, is very special to me.”

Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. rounded out the top five, while tight end Jason Witten and quarterback Tony Romo finished 12th and 15th, respectively, to help the Cowboys claim five spots in the top 15.
