Cowboys emerge as favorites to host 2018 NFL Draft, report says

The Cowboys have emerged asfavorites to host the 2018 NFL draft at their $1.5 billion headquarters and training facility in suburban Dallas, ESPN reportedWednesday morning, citing unidentified league sources.

Owner Jerry Jones built The Star in Frisco, north of Dallas,with infrastructure in place to host such a marquee league event, according to the report, and Dallas is pushing to land the draft as early as next year.

Philadelphia, site of this year's draft April 27-29, also is contending to serve as host city for a second consecutive year in 2018, while ESPN called Kansas City and Green Bay long shots in the process.

The NFL Draft was conducted in New York from 1965-2014 before it was moved to Chicago for 2015 and '16.

New York is not in the running for the 2018 draft, ESPN reported, citing an unidentified source.
