On Saturday (September 4), Saint Lucia Kings defeated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the first encounter while Guyana Amazon Warriors outplayed Barbados Royals in the other game.

After winning 5 straight games, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots suffered their first defeat of the Caribbean Premier League 2021. Batting first, Saint Lucia Kings put up mammoth 224/2 on the scoreboard with a spectacular unbeaten century by Faf du Plessis, who smacked 120 runs in 60 balls.

Roston Chase also played a quickfire knock of 64 runs of 31 balls. In reply, Evin Lewis scored impressive 73 runs for Patriots but the rest of the batsmen failed to come up with a good score. Patriots were bowled out for just 124 in 16.5 overs, losing the match by 100 runs. In the other match, Barbados Royals were bowled out for a low total of 130 batting first. With a century by Chandrapaul Hemraj (105*), Guyana Amazon Warriors chased down the target in just 14.2 overs.

In the updated CPL 2021 points table, Saint Lucia Kings have jumped to the 2nd spot from their earlier 5th spot. Guyana Amazon Warriors have also jumped 1 spot to bag 3rd place in the CPL 2021 points table. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots still hold the top spot.   • Six teams are part of the tournament which are Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, St. Lucia Kings, and Trinbago Knight Riders

  • CPL 2021 will witness a double round-robin format i.e. each team will play against other teams twice during the group stage. The top 4 teams will compete in the semi-finals after the group stage.

  • The tournament will commence on August 26 and end with the final on September 15, 2021.
