Paul Dickov expects his Oldham side to give Crawley a tough test

Oldham manager Paul Dickov believes a trip to high-flying Crawley provides the perfect opportunity to bounce back from midweek disappointment at Carlisle.

Latics' four-match unbeaten run in League One was brought to a halt at Brunton Park, where a second-half collapse resulted in a 3-1 defeat.

Crawley lie third in the table as they prepare to welcome Dickov's men on the back of three straight wins, but the Scot points to Oldham's recent performances against some of the division's other leading lights as grounds for optimism.

"It's exactly what we want," he said. "Crawley are flying, they had a fantastic result midweek.

"We know that when we perform - as we've shown against Preston, as we've shown against Sheffield United and the top teams that are up there - that if we perform to our capabilities we can go and beat them, certainly give them a game.

"The boys are disappointed from the other night, we all are. But people talk about a week being a long time in football; two or three days is. We went from talking about going unbeaten in five and playing ever so well to an abject performance the other night and we want to put that right."
