'Credit to them' - Hull City boss highlights Blackburn Rovers strength
Hull City caretaker manager Andy Dawson said his side were “excellent” at times against Rovers but admitted they need a bit of luck to “kickstart” their season.
Dawson took charge of the Tigers again as new boss Ruben Selles watched on from the stands at the MKM Stadium.
Abu Kamara and Chris Bedia had chances to equalise but Rovers stood firm to secure a third successive clean sheet.
“In terms of the performance, especially in the first half, I thought the lads were excellent, and they gave us everything that we asked of them,” he told Hull Live.

"The football was good, it was quick and we created chances. What we ask is that if a team comes off the pitch, have they defended well?
“I think Blackburn did, especially in the two brilliant blocks in the first half. That is credit to them.
“What we have to do is keep getting into those areas, keep getting bodies into the areas and keep giving them opportunities.
“At some point, we will get a ricochet and something will go in to hopefully kickstart our season.”
The result leaves Hull bottom of the Championship table and a couple of points adrift, having won three games since the start of the campaign.
Dawson felt they could have dealt with the goal “a lot better” before Sean McLoughlin eventually diverted Callum Brittain’s cross-shot into his own net.
"We played well but we didn't deal with that moment," he added. "They are the little things that either go for you or against you.
“We have to deal with that better. Can we get a yard tighter? They have had one moment where they have had one really good play in the first 20, 25 minutes.
"They have switched it wide and do we recover quick enough, do we get in the right positions? Then all of a sudden, that is when you get your own luck.
“That is our job and their job as players to keep working, understanding and be in areas because we can deal with that situation a lot better."
