Cricket ball–sized hail pounds South Africa

Large hailstones pummeled Middelburg, South Africa, on March 27 as "very strong storms" brought wind, rain, and hail to northwestern Mpumalanga, the South African Weather Service said.

South African Weather Service warned of severe thunderstorms, including "large hail, damaging winds and heavy falls" in Middelburg and other nearby areas of Mpumalanga on Friday.

"So we're on lockdown and it's hailing like it's the end of the world," wrote Instagram user @soreta_fit.
