Ashes - Broad happy to take taunts

Stuart Broad will be delighted to hear the taunts, if they come, from Australia supporters in the Ashes this winter - because he knows from Sir Alex Ferguson it is a sign he is playing well.

Cricket - Australian banter backfires in Broad blitz

England's Stuart Broad is happy to take taunts from Australian fans.

Broad has so far encountered precious little of the 'banter' he was promised down under, after his at times controversial role in England's 3-0 home victory over the old enemy last summer.

But if the chants do start coming his way when the first Test gets under way in Brisbane next week, he will be encouraged rather than the opposite.

Ferguson's autobiography has been on Broad's reading list, and he has taken some of his advice on board.

The England seamer told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I'm reading Alex Ferguson's book - and he said if the opposition fans are singing about you, it's a very good sign."
