Steven Finn hopes to be part of England's seam attack against Australia this summer

Finn and Tim Bresnan are vying for the third seamer spot in England's starting XI for the first Ashes Test, which gets under way at Trent Bridge on Wednesday.

Finn maintains that regardless of whether he or Bresnan get the nod, an English series victory remains the number one priority.

He said: "Ultimately the most important thing is the team.

Yes, I want to play as big a part as I can in making sure we win the Ashes. If Brezzy gets picked ahead of me and he does well then I will be happy for him.

"He's worked hard to come back from his elbow operation and it'd be fully deserved if he did play ahead of me."
