Kevin Pietersen has been given a gentle reminder about on-field conduct

Pietersen was incorrectly given out caught behind by umpire S Ravi in the match and stared down the pitch in disbelief, lingering at the crease for an age before finally trudging from the field. The batsman was not subjected to any official sanctions but he, along with coach Ashley Giles, was offered a low-key reminder about on-field conduct by match referee Andy Pycroft.

"Andy was right to speak to Kev, but I think common sense prevailed," said Giles. "It was just a little word."

He went on: "It's tough for the umpires here, it's so loud that decision making is tough. We understand that.

"I didn't think it was a reaction, more disappointment from Kev. But we've got to be careful with reactions to decisions."
