Raina smashed 11 fours and three sixes in his 52 ball knock as the Super Kings posted a competitive 223-3 from their 20 overs. Michael Hussey also made a significant contribution, weighing in with a 42 ball 67 to take over as the tournament’s leading run scorer
The SRH innings started badly in response, a brilliant run out from keeper MS Dhoni accounting for Shikhar Dhawan before Kumar Sangakkara, Hanuma Vihari and Darren Sammy fell after contributing just 13 between them.
Parthiv Patel offered some resistance with 44 off 30 balls but the hosts were always behind the chase, managing just 144-8 on the way to their first home defeat of the IPL season.
The result means the Super Kings stay top of the table but the Sunrisers must wait to see if they can do enough to secure a qualifying spot from their remaining.
