Since the first ever matches were played on these shores 10 years ago, the shortest format of the game has gone from strength to strength, with four World Twenty20 tournaments already played and a further two scheduled for 2014 and 2016.
India were the first tournament winners in 2007 after beating Pakistan in the final and the country's domestic competition, the Indian Premier League, is estimated to be worth billions of dollars.
While the same cannot be said for the Friends Life t20, the ECB is hoping to drum up interest by asking fans to vote for the best XI players to have played in the domestic competition.
ECB chief executive David Collier said: "Since the ECB launched Twenty20 cricket in 2003, we have seen incredible moments and individual performances that have paved the way for the format's widespread popularity around the world today.
"We hope that by giving fans a chance to vote for the best XI, they will be reminded of the great-value entertainment that will be on offer in the Friends Life t20 this summer."
