Former Man Utd attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has been told that he may “struggle” in Saudi Arabia amid reports linking him with a £173m move to Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo got his wish before the World Cup started as his contract at Manchester United was terminated.

This came after his full interview with Piers Morgan aired. In which, he hit out at Erik ten Hag, the Glazer family and some of his former team-mates.

The 37-year-old wanted to leave in the summer but United were keen to keep him at that time.

It was claimed at the time that Ronaldo was looking to leave so he could join a club who are competing in the Champions League.

He was in and out of the team under Ten Hag and it was generally found that Man Utd played better without Ronaldo in the team.

The forward was due to be out of contract next summer but he and the club came to a compromise so he was let go six months early.

But if reports are to be believed, Ronaldo may not be joining a Champions League club next.

It has been reported that he has ‘agreed’ to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr. With them, he will earn around £173m-a-year.

Ex-Man Utd player Paul Parker thinks Ronaldo is going to Saudi Arabia to “fill his pockets”.

He is also fearful that the attacker “will struggle” playing in the Middle East.

“Ronaldo probably really doesn’t care about the football part as he is going there to fill his pockets,” Parker told BonusCodeBets.

“Of course, when he is playing football he needs to prove that he is worth the money, but the main purpose is to make PR-money.

“I have to say fair play for him to earn that kind of money. I’m just wondering how he will ever be able to spend all that money.

“There isn’t enough time in his life to spend all that money, so it must be very nice to be a part of the Ronaldo family at this moment in time.”

He added: “Saudi Arabia is really not going to be easy for him. We´ve seen them play in the World Cup and they are not bad footballers.

“Football-wise I think he will regret going there when he realises that he needs to work hard. It’s really going to be tough for him and he will struggle.”

Ronaldo scored in Portugal’s World Cup opener against Ghana. He then claimed he netted against Uruguay, but replays showed that he did not get a touch on Bruno Fernandes’ cross.

Parker thinks Ronaldo “should be embarrassed” that he appealed for the goal.

“I couldn’t believe it was true that Ronaldo tried to claim the goal. But he must be very disappointed that Bruno Fernandes is the top goal scorer for Portugal. He probably doesn’t like not to be the best player in a team,” Parked continued.

“The Portuguese federation would never have done it if it was the other way around with Bruno Fernandes trying to claim the goal.

“But somehow Ronaldo managed to get bigger than his own country, like he tried to become bigger than Man United. It’s a shame and he should be embarrassed.”
