Crosby side given major boost by Royal Mail nomination
Grassroots team Crosby Stuart U10s have been awarded a grant for new kits through the Royal Mail Kits 4 Kids programme, as the company looks to support employee’s local football clubs.
The initiative was started in response to several requests from Royal Mail and Parcelforce employees who wanted to support their local grassroots sports teams. 1500 nominations were made, and clubs were chosen randomly by region.
Vicky Hall Grant, a resident of North Liverpool and the Head of Internal Communications at Royal Mail, nominated the Crosby side, as her son plays in midfield for the U10s team. Hall felt compelled to nominate the club due to the hard work the players and coaches put into the team.
Head Coach and avid Evertonian Angelo Nasole, on the importance of the funding, said: “Getting the funding for the kids means the absolute world to me and more importantly, to the boys whose hard work over the past 12 months is thoroughly deserving of this fantastic recognition.
“Coaching grass roots football is the most rewarding experience. It peels back all the glamorous and glitzy layers of modern football to its purest and simplest form, helping kids to learn and understand how to play the game, and seeing the kids have fun and smiling.
“The boys love their new kits, and I know with the power of Royal Mail behind them, they’ll be delivering many goals for the team.”
Nasole’s team is only a year old but has provided a space for children to build friendships, learn the importance of resilience and grow as footballers.
The Evertonian’s son also plays for Crosby Stuart, highlighting how grassroots football can help bring families closer, as well as creating and growing relationships between the squad at a young age.
Greg Sage, Royal Mail’s Deputy Director for Corporate Affairs and ESG, commented of grassroots, and the need to support clubs: “Kits 4 Kids gives colleagues the opportunity to show their support and help young people get active in their local area.
“Unwavering pride and passion, forging through all weathers, out in the community – grassroots sport has a lot in common with Royal Mail. This exciting new initiative brings the two together and we are delighted to be able to support Crosby Stuart U10 Youth.”
