On the 15th attempt and after 11 previous Norwegian podium finishes, it was Johaug who grabbed her place in the record books as part of a Norwegian 1-2-3.
Johaug topped the podium while compatriots Astrid Jacobsen and Heidi Weng finished second and third respectively to make history as the first country to grab all three podium places in the Tour de Ski.
But the day belonged to Johaug who had seen the likes of Marit Bjoergen in the women’s and Petter Northug in the mens come so close but fail to seal Tour de Ski glory in years gone by.
There was no stopping the 25-year-old on Sunday as she stormed clear, despite Jacobsen carrying a more than 20-second advantage into the final race of the tour.
