Crutchlow to miss qualifying

Cal Crutchlow will miss qualifying for the British Grand Prix after injuring his ankle in a practice crash at Silverstone and is a doubt for the race too.

Britain's leading MotoGP rider crashed heavily exiting Chapel corner after losing the front end of his Tech 3 Yamaha and was taken to the track's medical centre, where the injury was diagnosed as a sprain.

However, with Crutchlow complaining of a significant discomfort, and the swelling around the ankle increasing, he has been taken to Northampton General Hospital for a further examination instead.

The results of the examination will determine whether or not Crutchlow is fit to start the race.
