The 29-year-old joins Alessandro Petacchi and Roberto Ferrari as the team seeks to strengthen its roster following the granting of a UCI WorldTour licence last week.

"Richeze is definitely fast but most of all, he's good at taking his chances in any kind of sprint," team manager Giuseppe Saronni said.

"Petacchi and Ferrari are the key sprinters but Maximiliano will be an important alternative. I hope he gets some good results."

Richeze may well arrive at Lampre-ISD as a back-up sprinter, but he nevertheless has pedigree: riding for Team Nippo last season he won 13 races, including overall victory at the Tour de Hokkaido. He also placed third overall at the Coppa Bernocchi in August.

"It's an honour to have the chance to be part of Team Lampre," Richeze said. "Saronni and the staff always know how to get the best out of the riders. I hope to soon win wearing my new colours."
