Ausrine Trebaite, Vilija Sereikaite and Vaida Pikauskaite were victorious in the team pursuit final, setting a new national record as they beat Poland's trio of Katarzyna Pawlowska, Eugenija Bujak and Edyta Jasinska. Belarus claimed bronze.

Simona Krupeckaite and Gintare Gaivenyte later ensured Lithuania returned to the top of the podium with victory in the team sprint, edging out Russian pair Anastasija Voinova and Daria Smeliova by just 0.036 seconds. Frenchwoman Sandie Clair and Olivia Montauban took bronze.

In the men's team sprint, Germany's Tobias Wachter, Joachim Eilers and Max Niederlag saw off competition from Polish trio Kamil Kuczynski, Maciej Bielecki and Damian Zielinski to claim gold.

Great Britain's Matt Crampton, Lewis Oliva and Callum Skinner beat Russia in a ride-off for third place after the Russians were relegated for an improper changeover.

The championships, held exclusively for European cyclists and regulated by the European Cycling Union, continue over the weekend.
