Cycling-Quintana takes Tirreno stage and overall lead

TERMINILLO, Italy, March 11 (Reuters) - Nairo Quintana (Movistar) snatched the overall lead in the Tirreno-Adriatico stage race by claiming a textbook win in the fourth stage ending up the Terminillo pass on Saturday. The Colombian, twice a Tour de France runner-up, stayed quiet in the final ascent until the 2km mark, when his attack left his rivals stuck to the road. Britain's Geraint Thomas of Team Sky finished second, 18 seconds behind, with his compatriot Adam Yates (Orica Scott) taking third place 24 seconds off the pace. Quintana leads Yates by 33 seconds overall and France's Thibaut Pinot (FDJ), who cracked in the finale after an ill-timed attack with five kilometres remaining, by 56 seconds. Thomas, who lost considerable ground in Team Sky's disastrous opening team time trial, is eighth, 1:23 off the pace. (Writing by Julien Pretot; Editing by Ed Osmond)
