Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Wednesday, April 12

Marcus Stroman, Blue Jays vs. Brewers (DraftKings: $9,300, FanDuel: $8,600)

If I’m paying up for pitching in cash games tonight, I’m starting my lineups with Stroman. The Brewers opened with the second lowest projected run total on the slate, and I don’t see that line changing much. Stroman doesn’t have the type of K/9 you’d like to see from your high-priced pitcher, but the Brewers' league-worst 11.75 strikeouts per game should be enough to push Stroman to the plus side of his strikeout average. His 60-percentground-ball percentage will also help against a team that is mostly boom-or-bust.

While we’re still trying to figure out how most of these guys are feeling at the start of the season, Stromanshould begame-ready after having pitched in the WBC. Personally I think this gives Stroman a safer edgeand higher floor than other pitchers, as most guys are just now starting to stretch their arms in their second starts.

Expensive Bat

Josh Donaldson, 3B, Blue Jays (DraftKings: $5,000,FanDuel: $3,800)

This isn’t hard:wOBA over .400, iso over .250, highest run total of the night -- give me some Josh Donaldson! We’re getting off to a Blue Jays theme, but I am absolutely fine with it! Donaldson is in an absolutely perfect situation, going up against fly-ball pitcher Chase Anderson in the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Anderson came in with a 47-percenthard-hit rate in his first game, and I think the Jays will quickly take advantage of that.

Mid-Tier Bat

Andrew Benintendi, OF, Red Sox (DraftKings: $4,100, FanDuel: $3,100)

The sample may be small, but from the eye test, this guy looks like he’s going to be the real deal. Batting second in the Boston lineup is going to generate positive productivity from any player, and Boston's newest young outfielder has already demonstrated the ability to both get on baseand drive in runs. Between his price, spot in the order, and the fact Boston has one of the highest projected run totals, Benintendiwill be a very popular play.

Bargain Bat

Mike Moustakas, 3B, Royals (DraftKings: $3,400, FanDuel: $2,700)

Hello .325 iso against righthanded pitchers --my are you pretty! I never love going after hitters in Kauffman Stadium, but this type of power at that price is hard to overlook. It feels like the sites are just messing up Moustakas's price, as he’s been playing pretty well recently. I’ll continue to exploit the inefficiencies in their programming.

Stack of the Day: Toronto Blue Jays

This will be extra chalky, as we’ve already discussed the woes of Anderson’s fly-ball tendenciesand his likelihood to give up hard contact. I’ll still have exposure, as I truly think this is one of the most obvious spots to exploit. If ownership worries you, this is also a great spot to mix in as a part of safer mini-stacks in more contrarian tournament lineups.
