Liverpool 2 Swansea 3

The round kicked off with one of the biggest upsets of the season as Swansea ended Liverpool’s long unbeaten run at Anfield. Despite that, Roberto Firmino‘s 2 goals ensured he was the top scorer of the round with 30.1 points, while James Milner (12.6) and Jordan Henderson (9.8) both had solid returns. And despite conceding 3 goals, Dejan Lovren‘s 3 shots against the Swans and 110 successful passes meant he scored a healthy 10 points. As for Swansea only player was selected by more than 1% of users – and that was Gylfi Sigurdsson, who scored 13.6 points. But that meant the points scored by Tom Carroll (7.15) and Fernando Llorente (23.20) were not picked – Llorente even made our Dreamteam.

Manchester City 2 Tottenham Hotspur 2

It was a similar story for Pep Guardiola – City dominated the match, but couldn’t keep a clean sheet and they only came away with a point despite leading 2-0. However, in Fantasy terms at least, there was a welcome return to form for Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane who scored 16.4 and 12.5 points respectively. Claudio Bravo (-2) continued his nightmare run of form – his 2 goals conceded from 2 shots on target means he hasn’t saved any of the last 6 shots he’s faced. For Spurs, top scorer was Son Heung-Min (11.2) despite only coming on at half time, while Dele Alli was second with 9.5. However, popular selections Harry Kane (5.4), Danny Rose (4.6) and Christian Eriksen (2.3) underwhelmed. Kevin Wimmer‘s poor game saw him score -0.9.

Stoke City 1 Manchester United 1

Wayne Rooney became United’s all-time leading goal scorer but it wasn’t enough to be the top Fantasy scorer, his 13.1 points was trumped by Ander Herrera‘s 14.6 points, thanks to his all-round performance. Paul Pogba (12.4) and Marouane Fellaini (9.7) rounded out United’s top scorers. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was selected by a whopping 47% of users but had a poor game, only scoring 3.8. Stoke’s rearguard effort meant they had no standout Fantasy returns with goalkeeper Lee Grant (8.5) and Xherdan Shaqiri (6.7) their top scorers. The usually reliable Joe Allen and Marko Arnautovic both had off days, recording negative scores.

Arsenal 2 Burnley 1

The Gunners may have only scored twice against Burnley, but that didn’t stop a remarkable 5 players recording double figures. Alexis Sanchez was selected by a massive 57% of Yahoo players and topped the list with 23.6 points. Mesut Ozil (14.2), Shkodran Mustafi (12.3) Petr Cech (11) and Laurent Koscielny (10.8) rounded out their top 5. But at the other end of the scale, Granit Xhaka’s 2nd red card of the season saw him score -0.5 points, the same return as Danny Welbeck. Burnley’s 2 forwards also had strong returns as Andre Gray scored 12.9 and Ashley Barnes 10.2. Steven Defour also had his strongest away game, scoring 7.2 points.

Chelsea 2 Hull City 0

Diego Costa went straight back into Chelsea’s starting line-up…and promptly scored 21.2 points. He was supported by popular selections Thibault Courtois (16 points), Gary Cahill (15.9), Victor Moses (11.4) and Marcos Alonso (10). But popular selections Pedro (£18 and 3) and Eden Hazard (£27 and 2.9) were underwhelming. A sterling defensive effort from Harry Maguire ensured he was Hull’s top scorer with a 16-point haul, enough to make the Gameweek’s Dreamteam. Robert Snodgrass’s injury-enforced absence meant no other Hull player scored double figures and two – Curtis Davies and Abel Hernandez – recorded negative scores.

Southampton 3 Leicester 0

Saints’ big win over the Foxes meant big Fantasy returns for several of their players. James Ward-Prowse was their surprise top scorer with 16.1 and midfield teammate Dusan Tadic was next with 15.3. Cedric Soares (14.8), Jay Rodriguez (13.9) and Nathan Redmond (10) rounded out their top 5. For Leicester, there were very few stand-out players – only Demarai Gray (8.3) and Wilfried N’Didi (6.3) scored more than 4 points.

Bournemouth 2 Watford 2

Unsurprisingly for the Cherries’, their best performers were almost all attacking players. Joshua King (13.7) and Benik Afobe (10.2) were their top scorers, followed by Ryan Fraser (9.5), midfielder/defender Adam Smith (8.1) and then Jack Wilshere and Andrew Surman (both 7.9). Goalkeeper Artur Boruc scored -0.5. For the Hornets, Troy Deeney only had one shot all match but his goal saw him score 12.45, while defender Christian Kabasele‘s goal saw him score 12 points.

Crystal Palace 0 Everton 1

Palace’s expected revival under Sam Allardyce hasn’t occurred yet, and another loss meant they had few Fantasy returns against Everton. Defender Scott Dann and goalkeeper Wayne Hennessy top scored with 8.5 points each but tellingly attacking outlets Christian Benteke, Loic Remy and Andros Townsend only scored a meagre 3.8 points between them. It was a slightly different story for Everton though, Seamus Coleman‘s late winner saw him score 18.6 points and make it into the Dreamteam. Goalkeeper Joel Robles (13), Ross Barkley (11.8), and Ramiro Funes Mori (9) all had healthy returns. Young midfielder Tom Davies scored 8.4 points, which is almost one point for every pound he costs (£10).

Middlesbrough 1 West Ham United 3

At the Riverside, Cristhian Stuani’s (12.4 points) goal wasn’t enough for Middlesbrough to get a result, but it was enough to be their top Fantasy scorer. Defender Calum Chambers was just behind him with 12.1 points, while defender Bernardo (6.05) had a solid return from his £12 cost. It was a different story for West Ham as Andy Carroll scored an impressive 22.5 points thanks to his 2 goals – that’s now more than 36 points from his last two Gameweeks. Manuel Lanzini (13.9) and Michail Antonio (7.4) rounded out the Hammers’ top scorers.

West Brom 2 Sunderland 0

West Brom’s comfortable win over Sunderland saw good returns for several of Baggies players. Goalkeeper Ben Foster and Matt Phillips were both popular selections and repaid players’ faith with scores of 14.5 and 8.8 respectively. Darren Fletcher and Chris Brunt‘s brilliant goals saw them record 12.8 and 12.6 points respectively, while Gareth McAuley scored 8.9. As for Sunderland, Jermain Defoe is still their brightest spark and unsurprisingly he was their top scorer with 8.7, and Patrick van Aanholt was second with 8.2.
