Dak Prescott wanted to be on a Post Malone song like Tony Romo, and the rapper obliged
One of the perks of being Dallas Cowboys quarterback is it helps your odds of being name-dropped in a rap song.
If you’re a fan of Post Malone, you know he’s a big Cowboys fan (maybe you recall hearing he lost a $20,000 bet to Rams fan and fellow rapper YG during last season’s playoffs). You probably also know that Prescott gets a mention in Post Malone’s song “Wow.” released last December.

"Always goin' for it, never punt fourth down. Last call, Hail Mary, Prescott touchdown,” the song, which is No. 5 on the current Billboard chart, says.
But how did Prescott end up on the song? He joked with the rapper that he wanted to be in one of his lyrics, like Tony Romo was.
Dak Prescott appears on Post Malone hit
In early 2018, after Romo had retired and gone to the CBS booth, Post Malone’s song “Psycho” included this in the chorus (via Jori Epstein of USA Today): “My roof look like a no-show, got diamonds by the boatload. Come with the Tony Romo for clowns and all the bozos.”
The new Cowboys quarterback wanted the same treatment. Stories from USA Today and the Dallas Morning News said when Prescott met Post Malone, he joked around about Romo getting on a song while he had not.
So Malone shouted out Prescott on “Wow.” and it became a huge hit. Pretty cool.
Prescott happy with shoutout
The funny thing about the Prescott lyric is it came true. "Always goin' for it, never punt fourth down. Last call, Hail Mary, Prescott touchdown,” is what happened in Week 17 last season. Prescott hit Cole Beasley for a score on fourth-and-15 to give the Cowboys a late lead against the Giants.
"I was like, 'Oh, damn.' I might need to get Post to write more songs," Prescott said, according to the Morning News. "Super Bowl songs."
Prescott is a star himself. He was NFL offensive rookie of the year in 2016 and plays one of the highest-profile positions in sports, as quarterback of the ever-popular Cowboys.
But Prescott isn’t above being impressed by hearing his name on a Post Malone hit.
"I've never arrived," Prescott said, via the Morning News, "but that's something big though."
