Dana White Insists Conor McGregor Will Defend UFC Featherweight Belt
While there has been a lot of backlash amongst hardcore MMA fans that were disappointed in UFC 200‘s headliner featuring a rematch between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor.
Much of that backlash is due to the fact that Diaz submitted McGregor in the second round of their recent headlining fight at UFC 196 in early March. A lot of people seem to think it's too soon for a rematch, particularly when McGregor was finished in the second round, and has yet to defend the featherweight championship that he unified with his 13-second victory over Jose Aldo in December.

The UFC isn't exactly leaving the title in limbo, putting Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar in a rematch of their own at UFC 200. That fight will be for the interim version of the 145-pound belt.
Most would argue that it's still not the true title, but UFC president Dana White insists that McGregor won't hold the championship hostage much longer.
“We’ll make Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo for the interim title. Whoever wins that fight will then fight Conor McGregor for the true 145-pound title,” White said on SportsCenter on Wednesday night.
Pressed on whether or not he really felt that McGregor would ever return to featherweight, White was insistent.
“Yes, he will. Win, lose, or draw in this fight against Nate Diaz, he will go in and he will fight either Jose or Frankie, whoever wins at UFC 200.”
