Dana White Says Conor McGregor's Next Fight Should Be Finalized Wednesday Night

Bellator Uses Conor McGregor Storming the Cage to Promote Tape-Delayed Dublin Card

UFC president Dana White hopes to silence the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather rumors. That could happen as soon as Wednesday night.

In a brief appearance on SportsCenter on Wednesday, White said that he and company CEO Lorenzo Fertitta would be dining with McGregor Wednesday evening. He hopes that the dinner will be productive, and that the Irishman's next bout will be decided.

“Today, I'm flying to Los Angeles. So Lorenzo and I are having dinner with Conor McGregor,” White said on SportsCenter. “So tonight, at like 10 o'clock, I’ll have a lot more answers on the Conor McGregor situation.”

McGregor and the UFC had a very public falling out when McGregor refused to do the required press tour for his planned UFC 200 headlining bout with Nate Diaz. Push came to shove and the UFC pulled McGregor from the fight card altogether, leading to speculation about whether he might quit fighting. Things then shifted to rumors about McGregor working on a boxing match with retired world champion Floyd Mayweather. Of course, that speculation is likely as much an easy way for McGregor and Mayweather to keep their names in the headlines as it is a legitimate idea.

White, however, reiterated that McGregor's next fight will not include finding his way back onto the UFC 200 fight card.

“He will not be in UFC 200. Not at all. That ship sailed,” White declared. “But we’ve put that behind us, and we’re in a good place with Conor, and we’re looking to make his next fight. We should have that done tonight.”

With the recent announced of Robbie Lawler vs. Tyron Woodley headlining UFC 201 in Atlanta, it is unlikely that any plans for McGregor include that fight card either. More than likely, he won't be fighting until August or later, but for now, we'll have to wait and see how the situation unfolds.
