Fulham chief Tony Khan says that he feels “thrilled” to have added Leeds United winger Daniel James on loan until the end of the season.
The Wales international has left Elland Road for a new adventure, his third Premier League club in fact. Following a previous spell at Manchester United and then Elland Road, James has now moved south.
The 24-year-old is Fulham’s 11th signing of the summer transfer window – and the third of deadline day.
James told his new club’s official website: “I’m looking forward to it!
“I’ve spoken to the gaffer and it feels like a great fit for me, and I can’t wait to get started.”
Fulham chief Khan added that he thinks James can have an immediate impact on a strong start to the season for his club.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Dan James to Fulham,” Khan said. “He’s an exciting talent, and he’s gained tremendous playing experience at a young age, both domestically and internationally.
“Dan is very keen to play for Marco here at Fulham, and we’re delighted to have him join the squad as we work to continue the great momentum that the team has started this season with.
“Come on Fulham!”
Fulham looking to continue strong start
The Cottagers began the campaign with a spirited 2-2 draw with Liverpool. Having taken the lead twice, it was a sign of the mixed bag Marco Silva is looking to perfect.
Another draw with Wolves followed, before Fulham got over the line in another action-packed game with a 3-2 win over Brentford.
The London side gave capital rivals Arsenal a run for their money in a 2-1 defeat, before beating Brighton 2-1.
And James is the third addition of firepower up top for Fulham on deadline day.
Daniel James and Cottagers could threaten
As well as James, former Tottenham loanee Carlos Vinicius and ex-Arsenal winger Willian moved to Craven Cottage on deadline day.
Silva has provided an intriguing set of supporting attackers for star man Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is in strong form this term.
James enjoyed brief spells of form at Leeds, but struggled to really make his mark and prove his worth.
It was the same at Man Utd, so he will be hoping he can make it third time lucky with Fulham.
Vinicius had his moments for Tottenham and is also an intriguing option like James. However, there is more doubt over what Willian can do given his age and recent experience at Corinthians.
Fulham boss Silva, though, will hope he has got a solid platform to work with – at least until January.
